Long enough to answer real questions, short enough to actually get read.

1. Most small-to-mid-size proposals should run 1-3 pages excluding appendices.
2. Complex enterprise proposals may need more detail, but should still lead with a tight executive summary.
3. If it's over 5 pages, question whether every section earns its place.
4. Appendices (detailed specs, extended case studies) can hold length without bloating the core document.
