Tone lives mostly in word choice and sentence rhythm, not core content.

  1. Swap short, blunt sentences for slightly longer, softer phrasing to warm up a tone (or the reverse to sharpen it).
  2. Add or remove personal pronouns ("I think," "we believe") to adjust formality.
  3. Check punctuation — exclamation points and ellipses shift tone significantly even with identical wording.
  4. Read the revised version aloud — tone mismatches are often easier to hear than to see on the page.
